Growing asparagus for 30 years
Tis the season for Farm Fresh Asparagus! We’re so excited they’re back at the Farmers’ Market each Sunday until the end of the season!
Here are a few tips from your grower, Maria (she’s been growing asparagus for 30 years so she knows a thing or two!).
1: Store Asparagus in the refrigerator in a jar with the cut ends in a little water.
2: Look for closed tips when selecting asparagus.
3: If the end seems a little ‘woody’ don’t discard it, simple cut off the dry end and peel the bottom 1/3 of the stalk, then cook as usual.
4: If blanching, do so in salted water until al dente.
5: Finally, Asparagus and bacon stir fried together is phenomenal!
